Last but not least, I hope that the exciting matches in this tournament will have a positive influence on tennis in Japan and, help to bring tennis to a wider audience.
This year, thanks to the support from the sponsors and all the staff involved, we are able to present you the “Keio Challenger International Tennis Tournament 2015″, which originally started back in 2007. As the globalization of the universities progress, it is a wonderful occasion for the students to be able to manage such a big international sport event regularly, because they will have an opportunity to experience the interaction with various people, especially as they have a globalized society waiting ahead. Again, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone involved in the management of this tournament as well as to the members of the Alumini Mita Club.
During the Challenger Tournament, we have the chance to stand directly beside the young stars from different nations and see them test their efforts against each other and battle them out for future success. I believe that this is a great opportunity not only for the current members of the Tennis Team but also for the student athletes to witness and be part of such an occasion. This is not just an opportunity to be amazed by the world class athletic abilities, but more importantly, it is a chance to experience and absorb the life skills that each of these dedicated athletes present to us. Simultaneously, working to accomplish such a large scale, international tournament will definitely reward the students with management skills they will need to achieve success in the future. Finally, I hope that this tournament not only affects the tennis society in Japan, but also the college tennis all around the world.
I am proud to announce that the “Keio Challenger International Tennis Tournament 2015″ will be held this year. Thanks to all the supporters, I believe that it will become an even better of a tournament than last year.
Since 2007, the 150th anniversary of the Keio University, we started to host this tournament as a memorial event until 2009. Based on our experience through managing the tournament many times, we made it an even better of a tournament receiving the rating of “Excellent” by the ATP in our last 6 Challenger Tournaments. Our Tennis Team has taking a great part in the growth of Tennis through its 115 years of history. By students taking part in this tournament, they fight against skillful players and experience the international level of tennis. I sincerely hope that through this tournament, the players will step up to the world by battling against the world class athletes from across the globe. In addition, the current Tennis Team members will be working with the ATP and this experience will surely lead to the improvement in the university tennis.
Finally, I would like to express my deep gratitude to Ezaki Glico Co.Ltd., Cybozu Co.Ltd., Suzunoya Co.Ltd., and Mizuno Corporation for endeavoring to the Keio Challenger International Tennis Tournament.
I strongly believe that hosting the “Keio Challenger International Tennis Tournament 2014″ is very meaningful. I am sincerely grateful for everyone who is involved in the management of this tournament. Last year’s outstanding results of Mr. Kei Nishikori has gathered attention to the Japanese men’s tennis society and I am honored to offer the young future stars a place to perform their skills. In this year’s US Open, players who have previously participated in this tournament have achieved great success. Mr. P.H. Herbert has won the Championship in the Men’s Double division, Mr. Yosihito Nishioka, a highly noticed young Japanese player, has finally achieved victory in his third try in the main draw. I am deeply moved by observing how the players who steadily participate in the Challenger series achieve brilliant results, and the success achieved by players who are sure to lead Japanese Tennis in the future.
And together with the cooperation of other Challenger tournaments, the Keio Challenger will not only continue to encourage Asia-based players to battle against the world but will also help expand the sport all around Japan. I strongly desire that the players participating in the Keio Challenger will be able to obtain excellent results for every tough training they have sweated for, and that their achievements will provide a powerful kick-start to their bright tennis careers. I wish every competitor a good luck. Lastly, I again would like to show my deepest gratitude especially towards the tournament sponsors, and also to everyone involved in the management of the Keio Challenger.
